Lace Up Your Skates for a Lap Around the Maggie Daley Park Skating Ribbon

  |     |   Uncategorized

The Maggie Daley Park Skating Ribbon is one of the most unique public rinks in the country. Unlike most outside rinks, the ribbon isn’t one giant circle. Instead, skaters will follow a winding path that’s twice the length of a lap around a traditional rink. Skaters will have to navigate turns and small inclines, presenting an extra fun challenge. The rink is wrapped around towering rock climbing walls and the Chicago skyline looms beautifully in the background. Once you’re done skating, enjoy hot cocoa on a nearby picnic bench.

You can rent skates right at the ribbon: rentals are $13 Monday through Thursday and $15 Friday through Sunday and on holidays. The ribbon is open every day and parking is available at the Millennium Lakeside Garages. The lines for skate rentals can be long and you may want to time your visit so that you can skate right after the Zamboni takes its trip around the ice. The schedules are available online, or you can follow @MaggieDaleyPark on Twitter for Zamboni updates.
