After weeks of planning in the spring, Green City Market has made its triumphant return to the West Loop. This weekly farmers’ market aims to connect city residents to locally, sustainably, and ethically produced food, for the benefit of both individual and social health. The market is hosted on Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm at Mary Bartelme Park (with the first hour reserved for seniors and other at-risk shoppers). Vendors slated to appear in July include Bennison’s Bakery, Ellis Family Farms, Nichols Farm and Orchard, River Valley Ranch, and The Flower Garden.
Be aware that as part of the market’s re-opening, organizers have eliminated on-site dining and postponed much of its normal programming (check the website for a full list of safety precautions and procedures). To expedite shopping and decrease contact, you can pre-order via the WhatsGood app and select the GCM Pick Up-West Loop location, where your items will be ready for you at each vendor’s booth.
