Burnham Park: A Chicago Gem Near Left Bank

  |     |   Uncategorized

There may only be a few more weeks left in summer, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to come to an end just yet. Take advantage of the final days of sunshine and breathe in a bit of fresh air at Burnham Park

Chicago has so many fantastic parks: why choose Burnham? One of it’s most appealing selling points is its artwork and monumentation. Look up at Destino, the steel sculpture by Mark di Suvero, or Tom Friedman’s Looking Up. Stop at La Ronda Parakata for a relaxing breath, or spend a moment at Ernest Moore Viquesney’s American Doughboy or one of the park’s memorials. In the Burnham Wildlife Corridor, stop at Sankofa for the Earth for some reflection and introspection. Start visiting regularly and take some time to enjoy a new piece each time, or make a day of it and take in as much artwork as you can.

Of course, you can visit Burnham Park for a leisurely stroll or more intense run, for the more fitness-minded among us, if you’d prefer. However you choose to spend your time, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful spot to spend the last days of summer.
